Terms of Service

この文書は英語で提供されています。法的拘束力を持つのは英語版です。
These terms govern your use of StripC2PA. Use it only on content you have the right to modify, never to deceive people or evade legal labelling duties, and understand that we cannot guarantee every trace of provenance is removed.
1. Agreement
StripC2PA (the "Service") is operated by Ontara LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"). By using the website, the API, the local processing engine or a paid plan you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you accept these Terms for it and confirm you are authorised to do so.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
StripC2PA scans media files for metadata — C2PA Content Credentials, EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, AI-generation parameters and container user data — and can produce copies with that metadata removed. Files can be processed in two ways:
- Server processing: the file is sent to our Cloudflare Worker, processed in memory during the request and discarded once the response is sent.
- Local processing (paid plans): the processing engine runs in your browser and your files never leave your device.
We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a core feature of a paid plan we will tell you in advance and, where required by law, offer a pro-rata refund.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. Paid plans are sold to consumers and businesses worldwide, except where prohibited by sanctions or export laws.
You may not use the Service if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive US sanctions — currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the Crimea, so-called Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic regions of Ukraine — or if you are on a US, EU, UK or UN sanctions list, or owned or controlled by someone who is. We and our merchant of record may refuse or cancel purchases to comply with these laws.
4. Acceptable use
The Service is meant for metadata hygiene: removing location, device and software data before publishing, cleaning your own work, preparing test material and similar legitimate purposes. You may only process files that you own or are otherwise authorised to modify.
You must not use the Service to:
- present AI-generated or manipulated content as authentic in order to deceive or defraud anyone, including deepfakes, impersonation, fake evidence and election or public-health disinformation;
- avoid an obligation to disclose or label AI-generated or synthetic content — for example under Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, China's Measures for Labeling AI-Generated Synthetic Content, or a platform's rules;
- remove or alter copyright management information knowing that this will enable or conceal infringement, including under 17 U.S.C. § 1202;
- process content that is illegal, including child sexual abuse material, or content you have no right to handle;
- harass, defame or violate the privacy or other rights of others;
- probe, overload or disrupt the Service, bypass quotas, share or resell license keys, or extract, redistribute or circumvent the license checks of the local processing engine;
- violate any applicable law or regulation.
Removing metadata does not change who created a work or whether it was generated by AI. You are solely responsible for how you use the files you produce and for complying with the laws and platform rules that apply to you.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the files you process. For server processing you grant us a limited licence to receive and transform each file solely to return the result to you. We do not store your files, inspect their contents for any other purpose or use them to train models.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to process each file and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights.
6. No guarantee of outcome
We remove the metadata containers listed on the website, but we do not guarantee that a processed file is free of all provenance signals. In particular:
- invisible watermarks embedded in pixels or audio (for example SynthID) are not metadata and are not removed;
- platforms may still detect or label content using their own classifiers, fingerprints or records;
- new or proprietary metadata formats may not be recognised.
Nothing on the Service is legal advice.
7. Free tier and fair use
The free tier allows a limited number of server operations per day per network, as shown on the website. Limits, file size caps and supported formats may change. We may throttle or block traffic that looks automated, abusive or designed to get around limits.
8. Paid plans
Purchases are processed by our reseller and merchant of record, Dodo Payments, which handles payment, invoicing and sales tax or VAT. Its own terms and privacy policy apply to the checkout. Prices are shown in US dollars; taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you are.
- Pro ($9 per month or $36 per year): unlimited local processing, up to 1,000 server operations per day and API access with your license key. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, online and as easily as you subscribed; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. For yearly subscriptions we will email you a reminder between 15 and 45 days before each renewal, stating the date and amount and how to cancel.
- Lifetime ($59 once; a launch price of $29 applies to the first 200 Lifetime purchases): unlimited local processing and up to 200 server operations per day for as long as we operate the Service. It covers the features included in the Lifetime plan at the time of purchase; API access and features we later introduce for Pro are not included unless we say so.
- API credits ($10 for 10,000 files, $40 for 50,000 files): prepaid server operations that do not expire while the Service operates. Credits are used before any daily allowance is exceeded, are not transferable and have no cash value.
We may change prices for future purchases at any time. For existing subscriptions we will give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.
9. Refunds and right of withdrawal
Our refund policy, in addition to any statutory rights described below:
- Pro monthly: no refunds. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the month you have paid for.
- Pro yearly and Lifetime: you can request a full refund within 7 days of the purchase (or of a yearly renewal), provided you have not made substantial use of the plan, for example by processing a large number of files or using a significant share of the included server operations.
- API credits: a pack that has not been used at all can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Partly used packs are not refundable.
We may decline refund requests that are abusive, such as repeated purchase-and-refund cycles.
Statutory right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU, the UK or another country that gives consumers a right to withdraw from online contracts, the following applies in place of the policy above where it is more favourable to you:
- Lifetime and API credits: at checkout you are asked to consent to immediate access and to acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. If you give that consent and we confirm it by email, the right of withdrawal ends when access begins.
- Pro subscriptions (monthly and yearly): you may withdraw within 14 days of concluding the contract. Because you asked for the service to start immediately, we refund the price minus an amount proportionate to the time the plan was active before you told us you were withdrawing.
To withdraw or request a refund, email support@ontara.co with your order number. Refunds are issued by Dodo Payments to the original payment method, usually within 14 days.
10. License keys and the local processing engine
A paid plan comes with a license key that is personal to you (or, for a business purchase, to one named user). You may activate it on up to 3 devices at a time. Keep it confidential; you are responsible for activity under your key.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to run the local processing engine in your browser while your plan is active. You must not copy it outside the Service, decompile it beyond what applicable law expressly permits, redistribute it, or disable its license checks. The engine stops working when your plan expires or your key is revoked.
We may revoke keys that are shared publicly, resold or used in breach of these Terms.
11. API
You may integrate the API into your own applications and workflows within your plan's limits. You must not resell raw API access or present the Service as your own. We may change or version the API; we will try to give reasonable notice of breaking changes.
12. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, design and brand belong to us or our licensors. Apart from the rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, or revoke a license key, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or others. If we terminate a paid plan without cause, we will refund the unused portion. No refund is due when termination results from your breach.
Sections 5, 6 and 12 to 18 survive termination.
14. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Keep your original files: you are responsible for backups.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or content, arising from or related to the Service.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) US $50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
16. Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, and related costs and reasonable legal fees, arising from content you process, your use of processed files or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law. This section does not apply to consumers to the extent local law forbids it.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days.
If we cannot, any dispute will be resolved by final and binding arbitration on an individual basis under the Consumer or Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, held online or in Wyoming. You and we waive any right to a jury trial or to take part in a class or representative action. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court for misuse of intellectual property. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the Canadian province of Quebec or any other country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own courts or under your own consumer protection law, the arbitration and class-waiver provisions do not apply to you and nothing in these Terms takes those rights away.
More generally, nothing in these Terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived or limited by contract under the law of the country where you live. Where such a right conflicts with these Terms, that right prevails.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects paid users, we will notify you by email or on the website at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
19. Miscellaneous
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Translations are provided for convenience; the English version prevails, except where the law of your country requires that a version in your language applies.
